Where a kid can be a kid, for free!

Are you longing for a good play date? Do you want to take your kids somewhere they can play with other kids, and you can meet other parents? A place where your children can socialize with other children, play indoors and out, partake in an arts and crafts project and just have fun? For free? Yep!

Every Friday, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Success By 6 Play Group offers all of the above and more at the North Midland Family Center, 2601 E. Shearer Rd. Open to all kids, but specifically ages 12 months to five or six, the Success By 6 Playgroup is a weekly chance to let kids be kids!

“It gives kids an opportunity to meet with and play with other kids,” Becky Coker, coordinator for Success By 6 said. “I think it’s great, and I would love for more kids to come.”

Held in the Resource Room, to the right of the Welcome Center, parents can expect to find a room full of toys for all ages, books, games and more. Coker said parents need bring only appropriate clothing-play can happen indoors or out! The rest, including story time, a snack and a light lesson plan are handled by staff. Parental involvement is encouraged, and appreciated.

The North Midland Family Center also offers a slew of other options, including Toddler Tumble Time from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursdays from September 6 through October 25 for $25, Karate classes for kids ages three to six and also seven and up, as well as a huge, 3D archery range. “All of the family events are amazing,” Terrah Johnson, youth and family resource director said.
